2025 Edmonton Motorshow Recap

The Edmonton Motorshow steps into its new form for 2025 as the Auto Experience. This familiar yet new event brings all that automotive enthusiasts desire, from the latest models across all the top OEMs, to can’t-miss luxury models, to head-turning classics, and a one-of-a-kind test drive experience with a vehicle you only previously dreamed about being in. All this meets with a different kind of on-road experience, that of motorcycles, here in partnership with the YEG Motorcycle show, represented with the best models and vendors in the area. I and our Cars.ca team took some time away from the digital world into the real world to preview the latest models soon to be available for you on Cars.ca, with our 2025 Edmonton Motorshow recap!

All the New Models From all the Top OEMs

Step into the halls of the Edmonton Motorshow and you’ll be met with heavyweights right off the bat. Ford and Chevrolet displays unveil the latest and greatest from each’s model lineup. Of course, the Silverado and F-150 reign supreme and draw inescapable focus to their latest editions, especially in their electric variants. Hop on over to Chevrolet’s compatriots with the GMC section, and the Hummer EV as a highlight, alongside elegant Buicks. If the electric future of automotive is what you’re after, the Nissan and Volkswagen sections are the perfect visit, especially with the sleek ARIYA and stop-you-in-your-tracks ID. Buzz (more on that in a moment…) Looking for luxury? It’s well-represented by the latest from Cadillac, Mercedes-Benz, Lexus, and Maserati. If you’re looking to step things up even further, gaze at the handful of Ferraris on display from Ferrari of Alberta.

Were you wondering about my favourites? Would you believe me if I said they were a couple of electric vans? Yes, I realize that may be a crime to say in the land of pickups here in Alberta, but let me explain myself. Where the pickups, sedans and SUVs blend together in a sea of motorshow presentation, it’s what’s truly unique that stands out in such a flourish of vehicles. Many vehicles peg themselves as “head-turning,” a few actually live up to that moniker, but the Volkswagen I.D. Buzz does just that with vibrant two-tone colours that truly bring this old school icon into the modern age, and that’s not even to mention the all-electric capabilities. Speaking of, another standout, and a representation of said push into an all-electric world, is a van more fit for your business needs, the Chevrolet Brightdrop. This electric walk-in van is seriously large and in-charge, fit to be a spacious and economical van for any company. To top it all off, it’s proudly made in Canada, doing so at the first full-scale EV plant here in Canada.

As a bonus sign of the times, and letting you know where your future dollar may be going, many models displayed either “Made in Canada” markings or “tariff-free” stickers, so you can be sure to support locally.

Edmonton Auto Experience Attractions

Once you’ve toured through all the OEMs and picked out what may be your future favourite in your driveway, treat yourself to some of the other displays the Edmonton Auto Experience has to offer. No auto show is complete without some classics, and they’re well in hand here, along with a unique opportunity to go beyond just gazing at models new and old, to actually test driving them! The Auto Experience EV Test Track lets you try driving an electric vehicle model on the 90,000 square-foot closed test course. Here you can try out top EV models from Cadillac, Chevrolet, GMC, Nissan and Volkswagen. If two wheels is more your thing, there’s an entire hall of motorcycles, brought forth in partnership with the YEG Motorcycle show, so you can scope out all the latest models and gear for the summer. Perhaps you’d like to leave motorcycling to the pros, if that’s the case, see how the top freestyle experts do it with their nightly shows with the Freestyle Motocross Show. Don’t just take my words for it, check it all out for yourself this weekend!
